Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father left the family, she was grew up by her mother godparents, and grandmother. As a young girl, Ford was battling anxious disorders, obsessive/compulsive and was afflicted through word-related associations. Ford was first attracted to acting as a teenager and joined the National Youth Theatre. She gained admission to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she was a poor fit there. Ford was then able to apply for a spot for the Central School of Speech and Drama and was admitted on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's fellow students. Shaun Dingwall was later to play regular roles in the shows Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford's debut on TV was the 1991 episode Surgical Spirit. By the moment she was done with school, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Tate was a part of such programs on television like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London Burning. She worked on stage regularly as well as a part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's 2000-2001 season. Tate began to gain attention because of her stand-up comedic performances in the year 1996.
