Audra Mcdonald is unique in the breadth of her talent and her versatility as an actor and singer. She was the recipient of record-breaking six Tony Awards two Grammy Awards as well as an Emmy Award in 2015 she was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential individuals and was awarded the National Medal of Art, which is America's highest award for accomplishment in the field--from President Barack Obama. She is equally at home on television, film and Broadway. Her stunning soprano is a perfect fit for the stage. As well as her stage work, she is also a prominent performer as a recording and concert performer who regularly appears at world's foremost venues. A musically inclined family, McDonald grew up within Fresno California and received her classical training in New York's Juilliard School. After graduating, McDonald received the Tony Award Best Performance for the Lead Actress of a Musical at Carousel for Lincoln Center Theater. In the following four years, acting in Broadway's most acclaimed productions, Master Class by Terrence M. Twelfth Night was McDonald's Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park debut. Shuffle Along is The Making of the Musical Seduction in 1921 and the Drama That Followed. Frankie Johnny as Clair de Lune. and Ohio State Murders. It was the Peabody Award-winning CBS show Having Our Say The Delany Sisters The First 100 Years which initially introduced McDonald to television audiences as a dramatic actor. In the following years, she starred alongside Kathy Bates, Victor Garber as well as others in the critically popular Disney/ABC remake of Annie in 1999, McDonald had been a regular character on the network's Law & Order Special Victims Unit. McDonald's Emmy-nominated performance of Emma Thompson in Mike Nichols' HBO film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Wit was written by Mike Nichols. McDonald's return to the network TV screen began in 2003 as she appeared alongside Josh Brolin in Mister Sterling. She was a part of the WB The Bedford Diaries The Bedford Diaries in early the year 2006. Following the season, she was an recurring role on the NBC TV show Kidnapped. McDonald received the 4th Emmy nomination for her performance in HBO's special film of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill in the year 2016. The Bite will be a 6-episode drama focusing on a deadly pandemic that will be produced by Spectrum Originals, CBS Studios and Taylor Schilling in 2021. Having first appeared as U.S. attorney Liz Lawrence in the year 2009 on CBS's legal show The Good Wife in 2018 McDonald took on the role (now named Liz Reddick) as a season regular on The Good Fight on Paramount+ with three Critics Choice Award nominations for her role. Presently, she is acting as a guest in Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age, which premieres on HBO.
